STRUTHERS, Ohio - Holiday lights may go up before Thanksgiving in the City of Struthers as participants begin decorating their homes for the 3rd annual Holiday Lights Contest.
The contest is open to any Struthers City School residence or business. Only one entry per address is permitted.
Holiday decorations must be completed and all locations need to be registered for the competition by midnight on December 5.
It is free to participate, and those who want to join can fill out the Google form on this website.
Decorations must follow all city codes and ordinances.
Judges will observe the decorations from December 5-13 from 6-9 p.m.
Neon green marking sticks will be placed on the property of those participating so the judges can easily find them.
Homes have the opportunity to be titled Best Overall, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, Griswold Award, Santa's First Stop, The Meaning of Christmas, Most Spirited Street and Brightest Business.
By agreeing to participate in the contest, residents and businesses allow the City of Struthers to post their address online and take pictures and videos of their location.
The winners will be announced by midnight on December 15.
