1997: After more than 15 years as Western Reserve Health Care, the corporation that was formerly Youngstown Hospital Association is now Forum Health. It will include North Side and South Side hospitals, Tod Children's Hospital, Beeghly Medical Park, Trumbull Memorial Hospital, and a number of other healthcare entities.

Visiting Judge Tommy L. Thompson signs a release order for former Youngstown schools Treasurer Ralph Logozzo that will allow him to leave the Mahoning County Jail on Christmas Eve, a week early. Logozzo was sentenced to three years in prison, with all but three months of the sentence suspended. He made restitution for stealing $90,000 from the school district. 

Gov. George Voinovich names Atty. Robert A. Douglas Jr. to complete the two-year term on the Youngstown Municipal Court that was vacated by Louis Levy. 

1982: Girard Mayor Joseph Melfi tells City Council that all city employees will be asked to forgo the 7 percent pay raises they have coming, or the city will have to lay off workers. 

Mahoning and Trumbull counties report unemployment rates of 18.6 and 18.8 percent, decreases of about 2 percent. Ohio's rate is 13.8 percent, and the national rate is 9.8 percent.

Ernest Biondillo Jr., an associate of reputed mob boss Joseph "Little Joey" Naples, is negotiating a plea deal on multiple federal firearms charges.  

1972: Democratic ward captains recommend former Mayor Frank X. Kryzan and Atty. Lloyd Haynes to Gov. John Gilligan to fill two vacancies on Youngstown Municipal Court. 

Perry Kyser, the descendant of a pioneer Columbiana County family, retires after 25 years as manager of the Harvey S. Firestone Recreational Park. 

Stephen R. Secich, 58, was stabbed to death in his room at the Farrell Hotel on Idaho Street, and an attempt was made to set his body on fire. 

1947: Youngstown's largest independent appliance store, Ben's Appliances, opens at Glenwood and Indianola. 

Charles M. White, chairman of Republic Steel Corp., warns against expanding steel-making capacity in the United States beyond which it can operate without having to lay off employees in slack times. 

Steve O'Dea, a 19-year-old former football star at Campbell Memorial High and Ohio State University, is now a standout on the Xavier front line.
