Dates have been set for workers at Ultium Cells in Lordstown to vote to join the United Auto Workers (UAW) union.

According to a document from the United States Labor Relations Board, voting will take place on Wednesday, December 7 from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and again on December 8 at the same times.

Voting will take place at the Ultium Cells plant (7400 Tod Avenue SW in Warren) during these times.

This voting comes after months of efforts from Ultium Cells workers to unionize. In August, 85% of Ultium Cells workers signed union authorization cards. 94% of workers have voted to strike should General Motors not recognize them as a union.

Earlier in November, GM Spokesman Dan Flores released the following statement:

“Ultium Cells will comply with the National Labor Relations Act, which protects our employees’ right to freely decide unionization through a voluntary election conducted by the NLRB (National Labor Relations Board). Ultium Cells believes the right to a personal and private vote is important.”
