Warren woman charged after dog left out in 3 below zero wind chill Christmas night

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Warren woman accused of leaving a dog outside in freezing weather Christmas night.
According to a police report, an officer was sent to a home on the 2000 block of South Feederle Dr. SE the night of December 25 to investigate a report that a dog had been left outside for several days.
The officer found a dog cowering in a doorway attempting to shield itself from the cold wind.
The police report says while the air temperature was 11 degrees, with the wind chill, it felt like three degrees below zero.
The dog appeared to have injured a paw, according to the report.
A neighbor told police that the dog had been outside for at least four hours.
No one was home, so the dog was turned over to Jason Cooke, President of the Healthy Hearts and Paws Project.
Cooke took the dog to a veterinarian in Kinsman to administer pain medicine.
After investigating, police filed an animal cruelty charge against the resident of the home, 43-year-old Tanisha Lightning.
