YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Wednesday marked the start of Black History Month across the U.S. and local Black-owned businesses are celebrating by giving back to the communities they serve.

Beyond Expectations Barber College (BEBC) is offering free haircuts for elementary and middle school kids in the Youngstown area.

BEBC said they want to make sure kids in the community look their best without their families needing to stress about the cost of a stylish haircut.

"We offer $6 haircuts to keep it affordable for parents but during this time we wanted to help out the parents and kids. When you look good, you feel good so we wanted to go out to all of the elementary schools for the month of February," Eric Garrett, BEBC's founder said.

Kids can get their hair cut for free every Wednesday and Thursday during the month of February at the select schools that Beyond Expectations visits.

Below is a schedule of BEBC's cutting events for February:

  • Volney Elementary - February 1st
  • Harding Elementary - February 2nd
