LISBON, Ohio - The trial of a man accused of the murder of an East Liverpool man has been delayed until May.

Tyrell Marques Travers, 25, was scheduled to go on trial Tuesday in Columbiana County Common Pleas court fo the shooting death of 27-year-old Dion McMillion.

Prosecutors were granted a continuance of the trial after telling Judge Megan Bickerton that one of their witnesses was not available.

Authorities say McMillon’s body was found in his car last May. He had been shot several times.

At the time of the shooting, friends of the victim told 21 News that McMillon had moved from New Jersey to Ohio to turn his life around.  He was the father of a two-year-old child when he died.

Travers is charged with murder, aggravated murder, and tampering with evidence.  He also faces gun specifications which means Travers could face more prison time if convicted.

Travers was arrested in West Virginia and transferred to the Columbiana County Jail where he's been held since January of last year.

A status hearing is scheduled in court on May 12. The new trial date is May 23.
