The Austintown Local School Board will be conducting interviews for three candidates for superintendent during a special meeting Tuesday afternoon in wake of the retirement of current Superintendent, David Cappuzzello.

According to Austintown Local Schools' Marketing and Public Relations Specialist, Brittany Morell, the three candidates are Timothy Kelty, Holly Welch and Jeffrey Hartmann.

Kelty has a history with Austintown Local Schools, with the district's website listing him as the Head Principal. Cappuzello told 21 News Kelty is currently serving as Assistant Superintendent.

Welch's online resume shows a long history with the Youngstown City School District (YCSD), with her currently serving as assistant principal at Austintown Elementary.

She's also previously served as a curriculum supervisor, as well as a teacher for the YCSD.

Hartmann's online resume shows various roles across various school districts across various states. Currently, he's serving as a "high school principal teacher" with the Stow-Munroe City Falls School District in Summit County, Ohio.

Other notable roles shown include adjunct professor at Immaculata University in Chester County, PA, high school principal at Pottstown School District in Montgomery County, PA and high school principal for Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District in Philipsburg, PA.

Cappuzzello tells us he's greatly appreciative of the time he's spent with the district as Superintendent since 2019.

"I had a great four years here and we've done a lot of great things. I'm honored to have spent time here," Cappuzzello said.

The three candidates will be interviewed at a special meeting starting at 4:00 p.m.
