Man who survived kidnapping helps police identify suspect in Copley Township

One Hispanic man, found rain-soaked and walking along Collier Road in Copley Township, later helped police identify the man who allegedly kidnapped him and three other men.
Police found the victim around 7 a.m. on March 10 and took him to the Haven of Rest Shelter because there was no indication he had been kidnapped or broken any laws.
Upon the discovery of three dead males found bound and gagged in two locations in Summit County around 9 a.m., they picked up the victim from the rest shelter and questioned him.
One man was found dead around 8:50 a.m. on Wright Road in Copley Township, and two others were found in Akron around the same time.
The kidnapping victim found alive on Collier Road was able to communicate that "the kidnappers shot the male found on Wright Road and shot at him, however, he was not injured," according to the Copley Township press release.
The man said he played dead until the kidnappers left the scene, then started walking to try and get back to Youngstown.
On March 10, Copley Police drove the victim around to identify a home where the men had been held, but, by chance, the victim identified the suspect inside a gas station on Copley Road.
The man identified was Elias Gudino, 58, who has been charged with one count of Aggravated Murder and one count of Attempted Aggravated Murder.
Copley and Akron Police Departments are conducting a joint investigation. Investigators believe there are more suspects involved.
More information on the case will be provided as it becomes available.
