As local fire departments dealt with downed power lines and trees falling into roadways, a handful of departments were called to a fire at the North Jackson Fire Department on Route 45.

The fire broke out around 1:50 p.m. Saturday during a power outage in the North Jackson area.

North Jackson's Fire Chief told 21 News the blaze began near their generators that are used during power outages.

He was not able to identify the cause of the fire but believes it was most likely electrical.

It's unclear when the fire department building will be up and running again but Chief Mike Mortimer told 21 News that it won't stop them from helping people impacted by Saturday's storms.
