YOUNGSTOWN - Eastern Gateway Community College has received a $50,000 grant for their CDL program.

The school received the grant from the Ohio Department of Higher Education to invest in providing more students with the opportunity to earn a commercial driver's license.

"At Eastern Gateway, we help students earn their CDL, with a 99 percent employment rate upon graduation. With this grant, we will be able to put even more students first with an opportunity to further their career," said Eastern Gateway Community College President Michael Geoghegan.

According to the Director of CDL Workforce at Eastern Gateway Community College Brian D. Beckett, students who earn their CDL have a 99 percent employment rate upon graduation. A CDL license can provide multiple opportunities for students, as well as gets them out on the road, and allows them to earn quality wages while providing an important service.

"It's a great program, and we're thrilled that with this grant money we will be able to help more students realize their dreams," said Beckett.
