Jamestown parolee accused of cutting man, terrorizing 93-year-old woman

SALEM TWP., Mercer Co., Pa. - A Mercer County woman who has been out of prison on parole for three months is back behind bars after allegedly terrorizing a 93-year-old woman and cutting a 41-year-old man with a knife.
State Police say a security company reported several panic alarms going off at a home on the 300 block of Wise Road in Salem Township early Saturday.
Police say the two alleged victims were forced to lock themselves in a bedroom to escape from 33-year-old Samantha Jo Wertz, who according to the police report was intoxicated and used a knife to cut the 41-year-old Transfer man’s neck. Although an ambulance was called, police say the man’s wounds were superficial and he did not require medical attention.
Wertz is charged with aggravated assault, assault, making terroristic threats, and harassment.
According to court records, in late 2021 a judge in Crawford County sentenced Wertz up to 42 months in prison for assault and weapons violation. Wertz was placed on probation in late January.
As of Monday morning, Wertz remained in the Mercer County Jail on a $75,000 bond awaiting a court hearing set for later this month.
