A Youngstown man has been found guilty of aggravated arson and breaking and entering.

Matthew Alexander, 35, was facing charges connected to the September 2020 arson at a home on South Beverly Avenue.

The victim told police that a man, later identified as Alexander and a woman broke into the victim's house looking for drugs.

According to the release, the victim tried to tell Alexander and the woman that they had the wrong house but Alexander became aggressive.

After trying to break into the home, Alexander and the woman set a few things on fire in the garage and left the scene.

First responders went to the home and were able to track down Alexander and the other suspect by using their car and video of them setting the fire.

Alexander's sentencing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on July 13.
