A 19-year-old man from Struthers has a Thursday court hearing set after Boardman Police say he led one of their officers on a chase along Market Street and Route 224 at speeds over 100 miles per hour.

An officer reports that he began following a car traveling faster than the 40-mile-per-hour speed limit at Market Street near Gertrude Avenue at around 2 a.m. Sunday.

Saying there wasn’t much traffic, the officer began pursuing the car, which veered into other lanes when it went around the corner at Route 224.

When the chase reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour, the officer was ordered to end the pursuit.  However, the car pulled over near West Golf Drive.

With his gun drawn, the officer ordered the driver to toss his keys to the ground.

The driver, 19-year-old Justin Musch of Struthers, was taken to police headquarters where a breathalyzer recorded a .159 alcohol level.

According to the report, asked why he was driving so fast, Musch said he was in a hurry to meet his friends at Taco Bell.

Musch is charged with OVI, failure to comply with a police order and underage drinking.
