Trumbull Sheriffs release details of child struck by delivery vehicle in Mesopotamia

MESOPOTAMIA TWP., Ohio - A young child was flown to the hospital after being hit by a car in Mesopotamia on Wednesday afternoon.
According to a report from the Trumbull County Sheriff's Office, the 18-month old child was injured after a neighbor dropped off food to the residence along State Route 534 in Mesopotamia Township.
The report says that the driver, who had just dropped of food to the residence, didn't notice she had hit the child while reversing out of the driveway.
When Sheriff's deputies arrived on scene, they saw the child sitting on the lap of a resident with blood on their face, crying. The child also had road rash on their legs and arms according to the report.
When the Mesopotamia Fire Chief arrived on scene, the decision was made to take the child to the hospital via medical helicopter.
The child received care at Rainbow Children's Hospital, where their condition is currently unknown.
