TRUMBULL COUNTY, OH - Nearly 14,000 people spent part of Monday night in the dark in Trumbull County.

Power outages started popping up in the Cortland and Howland areas around 9:30 p.m.

The hardest hit areas were Bazetta Township (2,987 outages), Cortland (3,637), Howland (3,841), Mecca Township (1,078), and Warren (1,915).

The outages in Bazetta, Cortland, and Mecca amounted to 90% or more of the area being without power.

A post by Mecca Township says an issue with a transformer in Howland knocked out power to the other areas.

A 21 News crew at the scene found that downed lines caused a small brush fire but it was put out quickly.

The power was back on by early Tuesday.
