Court documents obtained by 21 News reveal more about what police know about Friday night’s deadly shooting outside an apartment building in Farrell.

According to a complaint filed by investigators, 24-year-old Marcedes McKelvey called 39-year-old JB Ray Brown to come to her Wallis Avenue apartment at around 9 p.m.

McKelvey told officers that Brown, who is the father of McKelvey’s child, was allowed to enter the apartment, claiming he was being chased by some men.

According to the complaint, McKelvey told police that 19-year-old Da’Ryan Allen knocked at the apartment door, saying he knew Brown was inside and that he was armed with a gun equipped with a 50-round magazine.

McKelvey told officers that when Brown went back outside, she heard several shots, and saw some men running away.

One of the bullets went through McKelvey’s living room window where her three-year-old daughter was at the time.

Brown was taken to the emergency room of Sharon Regional Medical Center where he died.

Investigating further, police say they found that before the shooting, McKelvey had been with Allen earlier in the day and that he had what she described as an AR-style weapon.

Police say they also found that McKelvey sent phone texts to Allen’s phone before the shooting, telling him that Brown was at her apartment and that Allen should come to the back door.

According to investigators, Allen first denied being at the apartment during the shooting, but later claimed he was there and saw two other men shoot Brown.

Police say they recovered clothing allegedly worn by Allen during the shooting.

Allen and McKelvey remain jailed without bond after being arraigned on charges of first-degree murder.

McKelvey also faces charges of criminal solicitation to commit murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and endangering children.

Allen is also charged with conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of recklessly endangering another person, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, and tampering with evidence.

Both are scheduled to appear in court again on September 19.

District Attorney Peter Acker says several more arrests are expected in the coming days.

Acker commended the efforts of the Farrell Police led by Detective Joey Brant and assisted by several other officers.

"Several of them, including Detective Brant, worked all night Friday into Saturday and through Saturday afternoon without sleep. They did an excellent job in their investigation," said Acker who adds that this appears to be the 7th domestic-related homicide over the past 4 and a half years.
