A Youngstown mother is being held in the Trumbull County Jail after allegedly drinking and driving with a child in her car.

According to the police report, 31-year-old Shaquia Rice was driving along E. Market Street near State Route 82 in Howland around 7 p.m. on September 16 when she turned her car around in the middle of the road.

Officers stopped Rice, who allegedly told the officer she didn't have a valid license.

During the stop, the officer saw Rice trying to conceal something in a bag.

According to the report, Rice got out of the car and had red and glossy eyes, slurred speech and the smell of alcohol coming from her breath.

The officer found an open bottle of Long Island Ice Tea in the car and the car seat for Rice's child wasn't strapped in.

Rice was put through field sobriety tests but eventually refused to do others and was arrested.

She's been charged with DUI, endangering children, improper turning, operating without a valid license and failure to have child in a safety seat.
