Youngstown & Mahoning Valley -

One person is in stable condition after an overnight shooting on Youngstown's south side.

Police say a male was shot around midnight on the 400 block of Miller Street, just east of South Avenue.

Youngstown Police Detective Mohammad Awad said during Thursday's safety meeting that the victim is not cooperating with police during their ongoing investigation.

"We sent detectives to the home and they do not want to speak with us," Awad said. 21 News is working to learn more about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

"With or without cooperation, a shooting still happened within city limits," Awad said. "If we can get the perpetrators, we still are going to seek them."

Police told the safety committee the group involved was not from the area.

"They were in town and I don't believe they want to be back in town anytime soon," Awad said.

Committee members were shocked to hear the shooting happened along Miller Street, as the area typically does not see violence.

There are no suspects in custody. This is an ongoing investigation.
