The Youngstown Area Jewish Federation says it plans to hold a vigil after the outbreak of war in Israel.

The vigil is set to take place Sunday, October 8th at 7pm at Temple El Emeth, at 3970 Logan Way in Youngstown.

The event will be held with Congregation Ohev Beth Sholom and Temple El Emeth, but is not limited to congregation members. All community members who wish to attend are welcome.

"It is a chance for the community to come together and demonstrate an unshakeable bond and stand with Israel at this time of crisis," said Elise Skolnick, spokeswoman for the YAJF.

So far, the newest wave on conflict between Israel and Hamas has proven to be the most deadly in recent history, having killed more than 1,000 by some counts, including 600 Israelis and 300 Palestinians according to aid organizations in Israel and Palestine.

As many as 400 Hamas militants have also been killed according to Israeli defense forces, though it is not immediately clear if any of those may be counted in the 300 Palestinians reported killed.
