The Youngstown State football team is 3-3 & 1-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference and play their next two games at home.

"We're 1 -2 in our league and I believe in them and think we have great football players," said Head Coach Doug Phillips.

Of their remaining five games they host Missouri State (Oct.28) play at Indiana State (Nov, 4) & at Murray State (Nov.18) all below them in the league standings.

"Our margin of error definitely shrinks a lot," said safety Tyjon Jones. "We got to play perfect from now on."

"We have to defend Youngstown and that's what we're going to do," said receiver Max Tomczak.

The Penguins have lost two conference games on the road, both by three points but some mistakes in critical times proved costly.

"Those are critical errors," said Phillips.

The Penguins are home for the next two weeks, this week against Illinois State and next weekend against Missouri State.

"We take a lot of pride in defending Youngstown. We got grit when we're playing on our home field and everyone takes in personal," said Tomczak.

"I still have faith in our kids, I believe in our kids and we just have to work on that consistency," concluded Phillips.

The Penguins and Illinois State kick at 2:00pm Saturday.
