Project aimed at development along Warren's peninsula asking for $2 million in ARP funds

WARREN, Ohio - Fund for Warren's Future is asking for over a million dollars to construct the largest development project along the city's peninsula.
On Wednesday, administrator for Fund for Warren's Future Dennis Blank asked Trumbull County Commissioners for $2 million from the county's remaining American Rescue Plan Act funds to help with the project.
Blank also plans to ask for an additional $2 million from Warren City Council members, which along with funds from Trumbull County Commissioners will go towards three pockets of funding for the project.
That funding includes property acquisition, demolition and infrastructure work, like replacing water lines and sewer upgrades to the two areas of development, which are the two of the oldest constructed areas in Warren.
Blank says that while Trumbull County Commissioners have allocated a majority of their ARP funds already, they are supportive of the project, and are expected to make a decision on the funding in a matter of weeks.
Warren City Council has already provided some ARP money for the project, but Blank intends to ask for the additional $2 million within the next few weeks.
He is also hoping that the city will receive funding through the Appalachia Community Grant Program, a $500 million grant program that provides planning and development grants for communities in Ohio's 32-county Appalachian region, Trumbull County being one of them.
Funds from the Appalachia grant program is being distributed by Eastgate Regional Council in Youngstown.
The project would also include a $6 million improvement to the city's parks and river, including a the construction of a park on the Mahoning River.
