The Youngstown State football team is back in the win column after beating Illinois State 41-38 on a last second field goal.

The game was tied up at 28 at halftime, but the Penguins struck first in the third quarter when Andrew Lastovka connected on a 22-yard field goal to give the Penguins a 31-28 lead.

The Redbirds responded with a touchdown to take a 35-31 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

YSU would pull back in front in the fourth quarter after Mitch Davidson found Dra Rushton for a 6-yard score, making it 38-35 YSU.

Davidson was 16/25 for 203 yards and four touchdowns on the day.

Illinois State tied things back up at 38 late in the fourth after an Ian Wagner field goal from 35 yards out.

However, with five seconds remaining in regulation the Penguins would walk it off after Lastovka drilled a field goal attempt from 37 yards out to give YSU a 41-38 win.

The Penguins improve to 4-3 on the season.

They host Missouri State Saturday, Oct. 28th at 2 p.m.
