On paper it looks like a mismatch !!

Youngstown State playing in the mighty Missouri Valley Football Conference that put one quarter of the field in the 24 team playoff.

Duquesne, champions of the Northeast Conference finished 7-4 and were the only team in league to finish with a winning record.

"Overlook, that's nonsense," said a vocal coach Doug Phillips, who is coaching his first playoff game for the Penguins.

"If we overlooked any team we wouldn't be here today. When we lost to South Dakota (week 6) and got off the plane, the playoff started."

Since then the Penguins are 4-1 earning a spot in the postseason.

"We have a tremendous amount of respect for them," said senior wide receiver Bryce Oliver.

"They won their conference and its tough to win any college football game," he said.

The Dukes are in the playoffs for the third time and the Penguins a 13th time.

"We're going to play our normal game, nothing too special and nothing too extra and just go out and be confident," said senior linebacker Greg Benton.

YSU is perfect against Duquesne in five previous games including last year 31-14 win.

"They want to run the football and I think they have a great stable of running backs," said Phillips.

"They trust those guys and they want to establish the run."

Kickoff from Stambaugh Stadium is 5:00pm Saturday.
