YOUNGSTOWN - Thousands of homes and businesses in Youngstown and Boardman lost electricity Thursday morning due to a traffic accident.

The outage, which impacted more than 3,300 customers shortly after 9 a.m., was caused by a traffic crash that brought down power lines at Chicago Avenue and Hillman Street.

First responders on the scene reported sparking wires were down.

FirstEnergy reports that by 10:30 a.m., the number of outages had been reduced to 150 in Youngstown.

21 News is working to learn if anyone was injured from the crash.
