$2.8 million in Opioid settlement available for Mahoning and Trumbull Counties

Mahoning & Trumbull County - On Wednesday, the One Ohio Recovery Foundation announced they will be distributing more than $51 million of opioid settlement money across the state this year.
The foundation decided to distribute those funds by region.
Mahoning and Trumbull Counties are lumped under the Region 7 category. There will be $2,881,564.25 available for organizations in Region 7 to receive. Organizations must send in an application detailing a project that they would like funded. The board will consider the applications and approve them on a case by case basis until their total funds for the year run out.
Organizations can start registering on March 4 and start applying on April 2. The last day to apply will be May 3.
This is the first time the One Ohio Recovery Foundation has distributed opioid settlement money. They are responsible for distributing 55% or $1.1 billion of Ohio’s opioid settlement money. That total amount will be distributed over the course of several years.
State and local governments are responsible for distributing 45% or $900 million of Ohio's opioid settlement money, which they have already started to hand out.
Details on what organizations can apply and what projects are eligible to be funded are expected to be released in March.
Applicants can use the 2024 Regional Grant Cycle webpage to register and apply.
