Cody Pitts Memorial Food Pantry opens in Hubbard High School

Students in the Hubbard School District have access to an on-site food pantry beginning Thursday.
The project was kickstarted by the Cody A. Pitts Foundation which donated $5,000 in hopes of addressing food insecurity among students.
The district is also partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank to buy food at discounted rates, ensuring the pantry remains well-stocked.
"You don't realize how many students, kids may not have food," Christopher Lacivita, President of the Cody Pitts Foundation, said. "For them to be able to come up here and grab a snack throughout the day or bring food home, even over the weekends if their parents can't buy as much food as they need, it means a lot, especially to have it done in Cody's name."
The pantry will also let students work inside, giving them a chance to learn valuable life skills.
