Armstrong, AT&T users experience issues making phone calls

BOARDMAN, Ohio - Many Armstrong phone service users report experiencing difficulties making or receiving calls, particularly to AT&T subscribers.
When reached for comment, Armstrong said recent technical changes at AT&T were responsible for calls between the two providers not going through. The company identified that calls incoming from AT&T were not connecting to Armstrong's switchboard, causing them to kick back, and sound a "busy line" dial tone.
"We saw these problems rolling in and we are keeping track of it," Armstrong community marketing and local planning manager Gregory Rhoton told 21News. "We want to keep providing the best phone service, as well as internet and tv service, as we can for our customers."
Phone users in Boardman experienced this problem the most, with clusters in surrounding areas.
Wedgwood Pizza in Austintown was one such business, which posted a message to customers on social media, reading "We are open today. But there appears to be some type of phone glitch[.] The problem is not with our phones but it appears to be with customers that have AT&T PHONE as their Provider. We're sorry for the inconvenience. We can only hope that it gets figured out soon."

Also affected were a number of police departments in Mahoning County, including Boardman Township Police Department, Austintown Police Department, Poland Township Police Department and Poland Village Police Department.
Armstrong said they expect the issue to be resolved by the end of the day Thursday, but added it may take longer.
Editor's note: The story has been corrected naming Wedgwood Pizza in Austintown as the business experiencing phone issues.
