EDITOR'S NOTE: This story has been modified from an earlier version to correctly state the time frame for this project's completion
The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has invested $2.8 billion projects this construction season including one major reconstruction project in Columbiana County.
A nine-mile section of State Route 39 in Washington Township from Salineville to Steubenville Pike Road is set for a major pavement rehabilitation project expected to begin later in the spring.
According to ODOT's website, the estimated cost for the project is $8,210,000 with construction scheduled to start in the spring of 2024 and expected to last until Fall of 2025.
We're told The Shelly Company based out of Perry County, Ohio will be the contractor for the project.
ODOT District 11 Public Information Officer Lauren Borrell tells 21 News the project will be done in three phases with one taking place from the east end of Salineville to SR-164, the next being from SR-164 to County Road 413 and finally County Road 413 to Township Road 776.
All of these phases will take 60 days and those sections will be completely closed during that time.
During the construction period, traffic will be maintained using part width construction.
