The Walnut Grove unveils one of a kind wheelchair swing to playground in Canfield
CANFIELD -- The Walnut Grove, a nonprofit in Canfield cut the ribbon on the newest addition of its all-inclusive playground--the We-Go-Round.
The wheelchair swing is the first of its kind locally, and will allow those with disabilities and limited mobility to enjoy the all-inclusive playground staple. It features a platform, designed for a wheelchair in addition to space for family and friends, and a ramp to access the platform.
The Walnut Grove is comprised of residents and business leaders who came together in 2013 and repurposed an empty wetland into an all-inclusive playground near the intersection of state route 46 and Western Reserve Road.
The $100,000 project was made possible by sponsors and private donors as well as money generated from fundraising events.
"So when we talk about the Walnut Grove, we talk about all-inclusivity and I think that's what we live up to by putting this all-inclusive wheelchair swing in.", said Dan Procopio, vice president of the board of directors at the Walnut Grove.
Procopio and Karen Conkey, the president of the board of directors also thanked the Canfield Community for supporting their mission.
