Pennsylvania Representative Marla Brown has announced $100,000 in state funding for upgrades for two parks in Lawrence County.

According to a press release, Pearson Park in Neshannock Township and Marti Park in Wilmington Township will get $50,000 each for upgrades.

Pearson Park will use its funds to repurpose an unused volleyball court into a recreational game arena, which will include one bocce court and three cornhole courts, as well as three artificial turf putting greens.

Meanwhile Marti Park will use its funding to install two pickleball courts on the lower part of the park. This would include a 10-foot fence around the perimeter and benches in the two court areas for those who are watching or waiting to play.

These fences will be divided between the two courts.

The funding comes from the Pennsylvania Parks and Forest Foundation, which began in 1999 as a statewide non-profit organization to provide a voice for the commonwealth's state parks and 2.2 million acres of forest land.
