Local High School students have some art on display in the Mahoning County Courthouse Rotunda.

It's all part of the Mahoning County Prosecutor's Office Art Competition. Over 60 submissions were received from 9 through 12th grade students across the county for the showcases first annual reception. The top three students were recognized for their work at a special ceremony at the courthouse.

County prosecutor Gina Degenova said, it's a great outlet and will be a comforting sight within the courthouse.

"It gives individuals an ability to put out their feelings in art," said Gina Degenova, Mahoning County Prosecutor. "It gives them an outlet. And so, I couldn't think of a better way to showcase that same art in our department."

The top three pieces will get a a long-term installation near the Victim Witness Office located on the courthouse's lower level.
