Springfield Local High School honors fallen Vietnam veteran, former student with memorial plaque

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Springfield Local Schools honored a former alum and fallen Vietnam veteran.
The school honored Donald Dyce, a former Springfield student who died during the Vietnam War and is the recipient of two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart.
Members of Dyce's family and Springfield Local High School Alumni gathered Tuesday morning to honor their brother, uncle, and classmate with a short ceremony to unveil a memorial plaque on display in the High School's main corridor.
"It's really heartwarming and it really gives a whole new meaning to gone but not forgotten, that all these people showed up today to honor him, that it will be a permanent dedication that the community can use to remember him. It's my hope that the teachers can use it when teaching about Vietnam to give it a more personal, hometown connection," said Don Fuller, Donald Dyce's nephew.
Dyce graduated from Springfield Local High School in 1968 and was drafted into the US Army at 18 years of age. He was killed in October 1969 from enemy.
