On Mother's Day, selfless moms who put their children first were honored and remembered with love.

At Brookdale Senior Living Community Memory Care in Austintown, we caught up with one special mom.

Seventy-nine-year-old Gloria Holtschneider a mom to six children, grandmother to 10 grandchildren, and a great-grandmother to around 30 was being celebrated for the mom she is.

"My mom was a stay-at-home mom. She had six of us kids. She had five of us girls before she got her boy," Tina McNevin said.

Her daughters say their mom Gloria set the example for them by being selfless, loving, and giving.

"She taught us how to be a good mother ourselves with our children. She was always supportive of whatever we needed, and what we wanted to do out of life. If we had a problem with one of our kids we would be on the phone and ask mom what do we do. She was always there,"  Tina McNevin added.

"No matter what mood you're in she always has a way to make you laugh. You could be crying, and she would find a way to make you laugh," Tammy Shoaf said.

It's evident watching them laugh and smile there are permanent mother-daughter bonds.

"We just had that bond that connection. I was the baby of the girls. We've been inseparable, Connie Dunnmire said.

"If we had a problem with one of our kids, if they were sick, we would be on the phone and ask what do we do. She was always there," Dunnmire emphasized.

She tells her children often she loves them, and even with challenges of her memory there is still love and laughter.

"She lights up when we walk in the room. Even though she don't remember us per se so much right now, but she knows we belong to her and she just lights up with love because her daughters came in. And she's wanting to hug us and kiss us and rub our arms," Jackie Hartzell said.

"Mother's Day to me is a blessing because I'm going to be 58 and I still have my mom. I have her, my kids have me. We are all just very thankful for Mother's Day. ... She is a sweetheart. She always has been," Tammy Shoaf added.

Gloria's core and treasured role of being a mom is evident as she carries a baby doll around all day.

True to form it shows she loves babies. It is who she is, a mom.

They explain their mom knew how to keep them going, and knew how to keep them in line, and is a great example for everyone to follow.

"She always loves everybody and that's what we should strive for all of us, is to love each other and to teach our babies coming up today how to have that same love," Jackie Hartzell said.
