Congressman Mike Kelly was about 60 feet away from where Donald Trump was speaking, with his wife, brother, and some grandchildren, at the rally in Butler County when a gunman opened fire.

He had talked with Former President Trump before he came out on stage and said what he and others witnessed was surreal.

"I'm listening to him and you hear pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, ring out and I say Oh my God they just shot the president. Then I hear people crying behind me in the stand saying oh my gosh, he's hurt, he's hurt, he's hurt. And I turn around and there are people with blood on their shirts and I'm thinking this can't be happening, not in America," Congressman Kelly said.

Geno DiFabio who has been on a platform with then President Trump at a past event says it was a great rally until someone tried to assassinate the Republican Presumptive nominee for President.

"I thought he died. I heard shots and I saw him fall and I thought he was gone. I thought he was gone. I said that's it. He's done. When he got up everybody got up, then it was euphoria, then it turned to anger,"

People began shouting "USA, USA."

DiFabio emphasized "We have to get past Democrat, Republican, Independent, and minority, and this and that. We have to work together as a country as Americans. We are all Americans and we all need to work together."

Congressman Kelly believes this is a wake-up call for America and the answer is in our hearts.

"Maybe it's time for us all to take a deep look because people ask what is it going to take to fix this?  I say us. It's us. We've got to start understanding we may not all agree on all things, but the answer is not for something like this to take place," Congressman Kelly emphasized.

DiFabio believes the Secret Service needs to answer questions about how this could happen.

He and other supporters at the rally believe Donald Trump will come back stronger,  and emphasize Trump is a fighter for the people.

"I still can't believe I was a witness to that. I can't believe politics has got to such a point in this country where they would shoot him. It's unbelievable. It's very surreal to see," DiFabio added.

DiFabio is thankful that Trump wasn't more seriously wounded or killed.

"I believe he is protected by God. He has to be because had he not turned his head ... he could have been dead," DiFabio said.

Congressman Michael Rulli who will be a delegate at the Republican National Convention, which begins Monday, released a statement.

"I am deeply troubled by the events that transpired in Pennsylvania today. I am praying for the families of those affected, the rally attendees,  and President Trump. I am incredibly thankful to the law enforcement officers on the scene who assisted those at the event and ended this tragedy before any more lives were lost. We are a nation built on democracy and violence has no place on our soil," Congressman Rulli stated.
