(KIRKLAND) - The Steel Valley All Stars (SVAS), a combined 14u girls softball team with players from Boardman, Canfield, Poland and Struthers who are representing Ohio as the Central Region Champions, won two games today which propelled them to 3-1 in their pool play bracket. 

The Central Region champions beat the Latin America team 6-0 led by Gia Vrona in the circle who pitched seven shutout innings, giving up one hit and tallying 12 strikes.

Vrona also helped her cause by belting the 2nd pitch of the game over the fence for a leadoff solo home run. 

The SVAS offense had 10 hits led by Emma Boccieri and Sydney MacDonald who each had 2 hits and 1 RBI.   Brooklyn Kosco slugged a double to lead the offensive charge.

In the nightcap, the Central Region champions beat the Southeast Region Champions from West Virginia 15-5.  They erupted for 12 hits led by Mackenzie Moore who stayed perfect at the plate with 3hits including a double.  Ali Blinsky had 2 hits, a double and triple for 2 RBIs, while Gianna Zuppo earned 2 singles. 

Justice Paris blasted 2 doubles while picking up the win on the mound. Paris went 6 innings allowing 5 hits and accumulated 11 strikeouts for the victory.

The SVAS earned the #2 seed in their bracket and start elimination play against the West Region Champion representing Arizona at 6:30pm EST, Thursday, Aug 1st on ESPN+.
