Youngstown, Warren libraries honoring Veterans in tribute video

YOUNGSTOWN - The Youngstown and Warren Public Libraries are keeping the memories of Veterans alive. As part of their yearly Veterans Day ceremonies they are asking people to submit pictures of Veterans to compile in a video.
“Currently serving, previous veterans, people who are MIA or deceased we’re happy to honor everyone from the valley for their service,” Aimee Fifarek, the Director & CEO Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County said.
The Veterans video idea started during the pandemic. The library wanted a way to still honor those who served without the need to get together. Now, it's turned into a modern way to continue the tribute to those who fought for our country.
“I know myself, my father was in World War II,” Fifarek said. “He was in the South Pacific serving with the marines and so being able to honor those people who gave so much for our freedom and our country is extremely important to so many in the valley.”
Anyone can submit photos of those who served to the Youngstown or Warren libraries via email to Marketing@Libraryvisit.org. The deadline to submit is Monday, Oct 28. The library asks that you include any information about the Veteran such as name, rank and when they served.
Anyone that needs help scanning a physical copy of a photo into an email can visit the libraries for assistance.
The video will be posted on the library's social media pages on Veterans Day.
