State of emergency placed on Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga and Lake Counties
With the effects of lake effect snow that continues to impact the upper north and northeast counties of Ohio, Governor Mike DeWine issued a proclamation December 3 declaring a state of emergency to Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga and Lake Counties.
The proclamation states that the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has already been deployed to these areas to assist with snow and ice removal, but additional help may be needed.
"In addition to snow accumulation creating hazardous road conditions, multiple hazards are anticipated in the coming days, including snow squalls and wind gusts of 40-plus [miles per hour] with potential gales across Lake Erie," said Mike DeWine in the proclamation.
While this state of emergency remains effective, State departments and agencies are directed to lend personnel, services, equipment and supplies as necessary to aid in the response and recovery of the area.
