Suspect indicted in connection with arson at Newton Falls motel

The suspect in an arson at a Newton Falls motel back in December of 2024 has been indicted.
According to a Trumbull County grand jury report, 44-year-old Justin Chill was indicted on two felony counts of aggravated arson with one being a first degree felony and one being a second degree felony.
The charges stem from an incident at the Budget Lodge on SR-5 in Newton Falls back in December of 2024 when a fire was reported in one of the rooms at the motel.
Newton Falls Fire District Chief James Williamson previously told 21 News the motel manager had already put out the flames on a mattress in the room by the time crews arrived.
The room was not occupied at the time.
Chief Williamson said Chill was a person of interest in the case. He was arrested at a nearby motel.
Chill will be arraigned on Thursday, February 6 at 8:45 a.m.
