Valley Big Lots store not on official closing list now has closing sign outside

Big Lots announced it would begin the process of closing all locations in December, but then hope came when Gordon Brothers announced it would buy the failing chain in bankruptcy court.
In January, Gordon Brothers announced it had completed the purchase of Big Lots assets and would keep 200 to 400 locations open. At the time, the new owners released a list of stores in the region slated to close, including Austintown, East Liverpool, and Hermitage.
But now word comes that the Boardman location will also be closing, with a banner hanging outside the store.
21 News went to the South Avenue store, but the store manager didn't provide a last date of operation for the location, but a sign at the store states that the last date to use credit cards on purchases is set for mid-February.
Calls to the store were answered by an automated recording that said, "All Big Lots stores will be closing soon."
21 News has reached out to Gordon Brothers to see if additional local stores are slated for closure but has not heard back as of the publishing of this story.
