Card skimmer found at another Boardman store

Police are investigating after a credit card skimmer was found at a Boardman business.
According to a police report, a customer found the skimmer Tuesday afternoon. Skimmers are used by criminals to steal financial data and other information from unsuspecting consumers.
The name of the business is redacted on the report, but the 8025 South Avenue address comes back to Rulli Brothers grocery store through an online search.
The report says the skimmer was removed from register six and taken to the store office where employees contacted the company that handles their credit and debit card machines.
Store officials said the skimmer was the type that would have to be retrieved by whoever installed it to collect data from cards used on the machine.
Police took the skimmer as evidence.
Boardman and Cortland Police have investigated reports of skimmers at area grocery stores in recent months.
Last month the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services warned SNAP benefit recipients to be aware of skimmers being used to steal EBT numbers.
The Ohio Investigative Unit and Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office recently announced the indictment of a Brooklyn, New York man and his company for allegedly defrauding more than $125,000 in SNAP benefits from Ohio recipients.
Mark Rulli, one of the owners of the store, told 21 News that "through our normal security review, we caught the device and question and contacted the credit card company to prevent future issues."
Rulli said that no one's information was compromised and there is no concern moving forward at either of the Rulli Bros. stores.
"We took care of the issue immediately," Rulli said.
