Martinelli apple juice recalled for possible toxic substance contamination

Over 7,000 cases of Martinelli apple juice have been recalled due to a possible patulin contamination.
The cases pertain to four-pack 10-ounce round glass bottles of apple juice.
The affected products have a best if used by date 12/5/2026 label.
The juice is sold in 28 states including Ohio and Pennsylvania at major grocery retailers.
The Food and Drug Administration cautions the bottles may contain patulin - a toxic substance.
Patulin is a mycotoxin produced by Penicillium, Aspergillus and Byssochylamys molds that grow on fruit, grains and cheese.
Symptoms of consuming patulin include nausea, gastrointestinal disturbances and vomiting.
At this time, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled product.
The FDA recommends to not consume the drink and to discard of it.
