It's been almost one month since a three-year-old Youngstown child, Keilub Paul, was shot and killed, and his father is speaking out again.

"It's unbelievable," Keilub's father, Robert Paul of Youngstown, said, "These are things that you only hear about."

On April 15, the day after Paul's death, Youngstown police said they were working around the clock to get more answers but that the mother's side of the family wasn't cooperating.

Paul received civil documentation from the Court of Common Pleas Juvenile Division, signed off by Mahoning County Children Services counsel.

According to documents, Keilub's mother, Amber Gabrelcik, was allegedly aware that there was an "unsecured firearm in her home" where Keilub was killed.

Also on April 15, Gabrelcik's drug screen was allegedly positive for cocaine. It also states that the "household environment hazards place the children in immediate danger of serious harm."

"I was saying all of these things were happening," Paul said, "and because of dishonest people, they were able to skim their way through and able to keep my children around, quote unquote, deplorable conditions."

21 News tried to reach Gebrelcik and spoke with Gebrelcik's attorney, who said no comment.

Youngstown police said there are no updates on the investigation as of Friday on what led to three-year-old Paul's death.
