A new street is being built up in New Middletown.

Anyone who buys the land can work with a builder to create a custom home on the new street in the Carrousel Corners Development. The Mrozek family is the first couple to buy and customize a home on the the new street. 19 plots are still for sale, and the cost of the land and customized home ranges from $360,000 to $520,000.

Anyone can buy a lot, but realtors working on selling the plots expect a lot of first time buyers, and older people looking to downsize their homes to buy the land. The homes can be anything from a ranch, to a large two story home.

Many people just like the Mrozek family are moving to New Middletown, and other parts of the Mahoning Valley because of high housing costs in other areas.

"Our cost of living here is so much lower than anywhere else in Ohio, and really in the United States," said Jenna Koontz, Realtor with Howard Hanna Real Estate Services. "We see a lot of people come back from Florida, Michigan, California, Texas. We've seen a lot of people come back to their roots here in the Mahoning Valley."

Many homes around the new street are already owned, so more housing is needed in the Carrousel Corners Development.

Homes are also in demand in the valley because of young families and college graduates starting their careers.

Antoun Dibo, Owner at Dibo Construction LLC, said a lot of people that have been buying homes are younger people who left for college, and decided to come back.

Koontz said she hopes to sell all the plots in the next three years, so they can work on opening another street near the Carrousel Corners Development.

Dibo Construction expects it to take four to five months to build a home. If you don't want to customize a home, the construction company can make you a model home on the street.
