Columbiana golf course owner disputes reports of foreclosure

The owner of a local golf course and banquet center is disputing reports that they are being foreclosed on.

Rick Vernal, the part-time owner of the Links at Firestone Farms in Columbiana county, issued a statement Wednesday saying that the course is not being foreclosed on, contrary to earlier reports.

"The banquet center will remain open and all events booked there will go on as scheduled," Vernal said in the statement.

National City bank filed a complaint against Meadowbrooke Development, LLC, which owns Firestone Farms housing development adjacent to the golf course and banquet center.

Wayne Bacon, owner of the development, said in the statement while the property is 90 days behind in its payments, it has been paying on the interest owed.
