Veteran's Day events around the Valley

Newton Falls High School Senior Class is hosting its annual Veterans Day assembly. 9 a.m. Veterans will be recognized with stories, poems, dance, videos and gifts.
Mathews High School in Vienna, Ohio will be honoring local veterans and has invited the Youngstown Air Base to a Veteran's Day Assembly to be held at 10:00 am
This program is also free of charge and the local public is invited. The Mathews High School choir and band will also be playing. Mathews has also had an essay writing contest and their 3 winners will be reading their wining essay's at this assembly.

Jackson-Milton Veterans Day Program, 9 a.m. in the Middle School/High School cafeteria. The guest speaker is state Sen. Joe Schiavoni of Canfield, D-33rd.
Willard K-8 (2020 Willard Ave. SE) will host a flag raising ceremony. The flag they will be raising was sent from Iraq by SPC E-4 Nathan Allen, Army Military Police. Nathan graduated from T.C.T.C. and Harding High School in 2007. We will have a representation of students and military personnel in attendance.
West Boulevard Elementary School, 6125 West Blvd., Salute Our Veterans Luncheon and Program. Luncheon, 10:45 a.m. to noon; third-grader patriotic music program, 12:15 to 12:40 p.m.
United Veterans Council of the Mahoning Valley, Veterans Day program, 11 a.m., Mahoning County Courthouse. The main speaker is Robert E. Bush Jr., of the Mahoning County Prosecutor’s office. Bush, former Youngstown City police chief and a Vietnam veteran, and Ed Savel, commander of the United Veterans Council, will participate in the placing of the wreath.
The Donald Lockett V.F.W. Post 6488 American Legion 504 and Ladies Auxiliary will pay special tribute to Doris “Dorie’ Miller and the U.S. Navy’s Golden 13 on Veterans Day,November 11, at the post hall, 2065 Coitsville-Hubbard Road, Youngstown, Ohio.
Guest speaker for the event will be Rear Admiral Julius S. Caesar, Reserve Deputy Commander, Navy Installations Command.
Roosevelt Elementary School, 110 Orchard Ave., Veterans Day assembly. 1:45 p.m., for students, military personnel and veterans of any war or conflict.
Woodlands at Hampton Woods, 1525 E. Western Reserve Road. Veterans program at 2 p.m., posting of colors, Korean War Veterans 137.
In honor of Veterans Day, Congressman John Boccieri will join veterans at the American Legion Post 504 by delivering remarks in honor of their military service at the Post’s Veterans Day Dinner on at 5:30 P.M.
The Girard Veterans Council will conduct Veterans Day services beginning at 6 p.m. with a parade that will start at the corner of Broadway and Market and proceed to the Girard Viaduct for a wreath service. It will then proceed to the War Memorial in front of City Hall via High and Main Streets. Mayor James Melfi will speak at the War Memorial and the Girard Veterans Council Honor Guard will fire a rifle salute. The Girard Veterans Council consists of VFW Post 419, American Legion Post 235 and Army & Navy Garrison 422.
