McDonald's distributor looking to relocate to Lordstown
LORDSTOWN, Ohio - A major distributor for McDonald's restaurants is expanding and planning to build a multi-million dollar facility in Lordstown.
The Ohio Commerce Center off Route 45 in Lordstown will soon have one more tenant if plans are finalized for a new facility. The Anderson-DuBose Company has settled on a Lordstown location to build a 34-million dollar distribution center... consolidating existing facilities in Pennsylvania and Solon, Ohio.
"From what I understand with the company, it's just not a large enough facility, they can't expand there. They want to put some state of the art stuff in," said Mark Zigmont, Trumbull County Planning Commission.
The company, which is a major supplier for McDonalds, had looked at several sites before selecting the industrial complex. "From Mahoning County, Trumbull County, they actually looked at three sites total in Lordstown," said Ron Barnhart, Lordstown Zoning Administration.
The new operation will hire 160 employees; some will come from the other facilities. "There'll be about 100 new jobs here. And this is going to pay fairly well," Zigmont said.
The company is asking for a ten year, 75-percent tax abatement if they purchase the property in Lordstown. "Be a big shot in the arm for us, plus the employment," Barnhart said.
If the abatement plan is approved by the village and Trumbull County Commissioners, the company plans to break ground this summer and complete the distribution center next summer.
