LORDSTOWN, Ohio - Nearly 70 laid-off united auto workers are being hired to fill part time positions this summer at the GM Lordstown Assembly Plant.
The workers gathered Monday at the Local 1112 union hall for an orientation meeting with union leaders. UAW Local 1112 President Jim Graham tells 21 News, "under the agreement out of Detroit, anyone who's laid off through the whole system of GM, they would have access to temporary jobs probably until September before we hire anyone off the street."
The part-time hires are needed to cover for vacation time and other temporary vacancies at the plant.
