NEW CASTLE, Pennsylvania - A community comes out in full force on Saturday to honor one of Our Valley's Bravest. U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Edward Mills of New Castle was killed in Afghanistan on May 26th. He died from wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an explosive device.

As the soldier's flag draped coffin traveled from the DeCarbo Funeral Home in New Castle to Sergeant Mills final resting place, the community lined the streets, waving flags to pay their respects, honor his life and thank him for his sacrifice. A man who would only give the name Cristos, from the Mongols Motorcycle Club in New Castle says, "The man did a great thing. He went over to fight for our country - you know and unfortunately this happened. The very least we can do is come support him and his family."

Complete strangers stood for hours outside of the funeral home with flags in their hands, as the fallen soldier's brother, Pastor Jarod Mills officiated the memorial service for family and friends. Joshua Habib of the Army National Guard in New Castle says, "Staff Sergeant Mills' family is going through a hard time. I've lost friends before so I've been through this. The best thing is to have all of thse people like we did here in New Castle come out and support them." Bud Roberts of the Patriot Guard Riders says, "I think it's important that the community show respect to the family for a fallen hero who has volunteered to give his life so that we can stand her and you can stand here and interview me."
