Officials celebrate new EMA offices groundbreaking

WARREN, Ohio - The a new multi-purpose emergency center is now under construction in Trumbull County.
Groundbreaking took place this morning for the new office building for the Trumbull County Emergency Management Agency.
Officials at the EMA, which will be moving our of the Airport Terminal to the new location at 650 North River Road NW in Warren, say that it will cost $2.3 million to create the new facility; the organization received a $740,000 grant from FEMA to help with the costs along with a $200,000 match from Trumbull County commissioners. Trumbull EMA is the first Ohio agency to receive the grant from FEMA.
The center will sit behind the county engineer's building and will boast updated equipment that will help the county communicate with the state during emergencies.
"If it's a disaster, such as floods to a major magnitude, we will actually have the staffing at our office and we'll have the electronics and capabilities to get the information to the state faster as far as damages," Linda Beil says, Trumbull County EMA director.
The facility will be built with room for an addition to include Trumbull County 911 Dispatch services within the next year.
Construction should be compete in about nine months.
