Traffic detoured around the Mahoning Avenue Bridge in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Drivers along a portion of Mahoning Avenue in Youngstown are facing a gauntlet of orange construction cones.
The bridge over I-680 between Glenwood and McKinley Avenues is closed until further notice.
The Youngstown Department of Public works closed the bridge on Tuesday for emergency sewer and water line repairs.
The road is closed from Fellows Riverside Gardens to the U-Haul building, the former Isaly Dairy.
According to data from the Eastgate Council of Governments, more than 8,400 vehicles use the span each day.
East bound Mahoning Avenue traffic is being detoured to I-680 south bound to the Glenwood-Mahoning Avenue exit.
West bound traffic on Mahoning Avenue is being sent to the Marshall Street entrance ramp of north bound I-680 to the Connecticut-Belle Vista exit to Steel Street.
Officials say that local traffic on both sides of the Mahoning Avenue Bridge, including access to Glenwood Avenue from the east is being maintained.
